Lake Las Vegas Announces “Summer of Wishes”
to Benefit Make-A-Wish® Southern Nevada

Lake Las Vegas You Made This Happen. The Goal of $15,000 reached and more importantly children of Southern Nevada wishes were and will be granted! Our final event of the campaign was our Labor Day Fireworks Cruise. The #SummerOfWishes partnership with Make A Wish of Southern Nevada will always make the Summer of 2019 one to smile about!

Throughout the summer, Seasons Grocery is holding a round-up program where customers can choose to round up to the nearest dollar and donate their change to Make-A-Wish. Those interested in donating can also purchase a Make-A-Wish star for $1 at Seasons Grocery, Reflection Bay Golf Club, Lake Las Vegas Water Sports, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and BellaLinda Gelateria Italiana. All proceeds will go directly to the foundation.

“This kind of initiative is so important because Make-A-Wish relies solely on private donations,” said Scott Rosenzweig, vice president of mission advancement at Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada. “Lake Las Vegas is offering a fantastic opportunity for us to get involved with the community and gain awareness for such a great cause.”

Community members can also donate this summer at donation boxes, which will be placed throughout Lake Las Vegas. Donation boxes will be available at Seasons Grocery, the Aqua Park, Reflection Bay Golf Club and the Lake Las Vegas Sports Club.

LAS VEGAS (June 17, 2019) – Lake Las Vegas is celebrating this summer with a community-wide charitable campaign, “Summer of Wishes,” to benefit the Make-A-Wish® Southern Nevada. The award-winning community will officially kick off the initiative at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the grand opening of the Lake Las Vegas Water Sports Aqua Park at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 21.

Community representatives, including Cody Winterton, the executive vice president of Raintree Investment Corp., Lake Las Vegas’ master developer, will be joined by the Henderson Chamber of Commerce as they officially open the Aqua Park for the first day of summer and announce the beginning of the Make-A-Wish donation opportunities throughout Lake Las Vegas.

“It is heartwarming to support Make-A-Wish,” Winterton said. “We hope this season-long project makes a difference in the lives of children in Las Vegas who are battling critical illnesses.”

WHAT:

Lake Las Vegas’ Summer of Wishes is helping Make-A-Wish® Southern Nevada make more wishes come true. Throughout the summer, participating vendors at Lake Las Vegas are offering customers the opportunity to round up to the nearest dollar and donate their change to Make-A-Wish.

WHEN:

On Sunday, June 23, 2019 at noon, three Las Vegas Wish kids learned their wishes to visit Hawaii were granted! The wish reveal came as a surprise to the kids and their families.

WHO:

Kristen Dahl, age 17, has Cystic Fibrosis. She holds tight to a picture of Maui taken by her now deceased grandmother. Kristen can’t wait to whale watch, catch a glimpse of manta rays and try her hand at surfing and zip-lining. Kristen receives treatment for her digestive system and has decreased lung functionality. Her three siblings also suffer from Cystic Fibrosis and are eligible for a wish.

Christia Dozier, age 9, was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease at age two, enduring a blood transfusion every four weeks. Each time, it takes a 3 to 7-day national search to find blood with her exact genetic match. She also wishes to travel to Hawaii and dreams of making a lasting family memory by watching her entire family hula dance.

Ariadna Perez, age 15, who was diagnosed with a congenital heart disorder, has undergone numerous surgeries. Her wish, to visit Hawaii, will allow her to swim with dolphins, snorkel and spend time with her mom, sister and grandmother.
