Lake Las Vegas Celebrates Memorial Day with Pets & Pancakes

Summer is finally here! Lake Las Vegas kicked off the season with its popular pet-friendly tradition on Memorial Day weekend. Hundreds of people celebrated the community’s final Lake Las Vegas Days event on May 29 with a delicious homemade pancake breakfast by Lake Las Vegas executive chef Scott Commings. The event also brought the community together for an enjoyable morning under clear skies and sunshine for its highly anticipated Pet Scene Magazine pet parade and pet fair.

Pets of all shapes and sizes lined up for a parade along the High Performance Golf Institute’s practice facility, located behind the Lake Las Vegas Sports Club. More than 50 pups and their human companions participated in this year’s fun-filled pet parade, which included a series of costume competitions for a chance to win prizes. Among some of the top costumes were Superman, princess and cowboy outfits, in addition to an entire assortment of adorable original attires. Every pup and their owners enjoyed a moment in the spotlight as they walked along the trail to a cheering audience.

Attendees also enjoyed a pet fair throughout the morning, which featured pet-centric vendors from all over Southern Nevada. Everyone who attended the pet fair and parade were encouraged to make a donation to benefit the Nevada SPCA and Opportunity Village.

Lake Las Vegas Days is an annual celebration hosted at Lake Las Vegas throughout May. If you missed out on the pet parade and fair this year, don’t worry! There are still several more events in store for Southern Nevada residents and our local animal lovers that you won’t want to miss!
