Lake Las Vegas couple creating waves in the sport of Hydro-Flight

Sean Ray and Lena Camargo are taking their passion for flying 70 to 80 feet above water to new heights. The couple, both professional Hydro-Flight athletes who reside and work at Lake Las Vegas, are pursuing their dream of performing to a captive audience in the entertainment capital of the world.

Ray, one of the world’s top ranked Hydro-Flight athletes, and Camargo perform stunts on the Flyboard Pro series™, a water jet powered vehiclethat propels into the air above water. The duo only requires three to five feet of water to display a show that offers acrobatic yoga, high energy stunts, flame throwing, night flights and more.

While Ray garnered world recognition earning a bronze medal in the Pro division at the 2018 Flyboard World Cup championship in France, he is reaching for a different goal in 2019.

“I’m focusing more on the entertainment aspect of the industry and will be planning and coordinating live shows all across the globe,” said Ray, events and security manager for Montelago Village at Lake Las Vegas.

Ray’s knack for Hydro-Flight landed him a role at Lake Las Vegas Water Sports offering lessons while he trained for international competitions. Both Ray and Camargo like to spend as much time on the water as possible. “There aren’t many women on the competitive side, but I see a lot more women entering the sport,” said Camargo, a fitness trainer at Lake Las Vegas Sports Club and former body builder.

You don’t need to be a professional athlete or have good balance to learn the sport, Ray added. “Itis very easy to learn and only takes a few minutes to start flying,” he said. “Lake Las Vegas Water Sports offers beginner lessons, and I offer private training classes that can go beyond a beginner level.”

When the couple are not training or working, they are enjoying the perks of living at Lake Las Vegas.

“I live in the center of The Village and have a fresh water lake in my backyard year-round,” said Ray. “The improvements that have been made to the golf course and sports club have rendered the community very appealing to a younger age demographic.”

Residents of the3,600-acre masterplan community of Lake Las Vegas enjoy a 320-acre lake, two award-winning golf courses, a Sports Club and water sports activities. Complete with multiple dining, shopping and service amenities, Lake Las Vegas is one of Southern Nevada’s top residential communities.
