Native California Family Makes Lake Las Vegas Home

When Amy Rhodes moved to Lake Las Vegas, it was a family affair. Rhodes, Lake Mead Christian Academy’s director of marketing and communications, moved to the master plan’s South Shore community, where her brother had moved a few years before. She was followed by her parents a few years later, and now has 11 family members living within walking distance of each other.

Originally from San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano in California, Rhodes said she and her family are fans of the Lake Las Vegas lifestyle. “I love that it has a secluded feel to it,” she said. “But it also has lots of activities. We are frequently at the South Shores Lake Club and LOVE the new Seasons Grocery & Deli. My dad walks on the trails and has a duffy boat for the lake.”

Rhodes, who has four children at home between the ages of 11-17, said she also appreciates the Lake Las Vegas Sports Club–and its many activities for youth and teens. “The kids play basketball, swim and love the Teen Club,” she said.

Rhodes’ children all attend Lake Mead Christian Academy, a premier private Christian school that is just a few minutes from Lake Las Vegas. “We are seeing lots of new families that have recently moved to Lake Las Vegas, and the school is a proud partner with the community.”
